UNCW LGBTQIA+ Resource Center

In 1986, UNCW first established their pride organization to help meet the needs of the growing LGBTQIA Community. Since then, the university has tried many things to help the students, faculty, and staff that are a part of the community feel safe, secure, and supported at UNCW. Opening the Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Center has given this community a safe space on campus.

A fellow student, news reporter, and member of the community, Noah Warren, was able to chat with us about his experience on the UNCW campus. We were also able to interview Chadwick Roberts, an Assistant Professor here at UNCW who is on the LGBTQIA+ Resource Center Advisory Board. He discusses how over the years, UNCW has helped foster a more accepting place for the queer community.

Although UNCW has improvements to make in order for the LGBTQIA Community to continue to feel even safer, the addition of the Mohin Scholz Center has aided in giving the community on campus a family and a safe place to call home.
